Pickles have always been a staple in the house so pregnancy really has nothing to do with this part of it. I happen to like a specific kind of pickles though. They are called BA-TAMPTE Half Sour Pickles. Now...these can only be found in the refrigerated section of a food store and only have a "shelf" span of about 3 months. So I have constantly been eating these pickles. One night I ran out so i figured I would just grab some on the way home from school the next day. I could not find them anywhere. I actually stopped at 8 different grocery stores looking for them because I could not go home without them. Seth called me at some point in my trip to ask me to bring ice cream home.....did I mention I was pregnant and my husband now has me in a food store getting pickles AND icecream...yeah...you see where thats going...
So anyway...I am on the phone with my grandmother this whole time and she is just hysterical laughing everytime i tell her I am in another food store. I finally went to the last food store I knew of (I was kind of working my way home so the last one was near the house...mind you this was after 2 hours of grocery store hopping) to find that there was a big empty space where MY pickles belong...i seriously almost cried. I went and spoke to the manager and asked if he could check the back. He smiled and said he would. As soon as I saw him coming without the pickles I was very upset. He said they would be receiving a shipment in 4 days...
4 DAYS!!???
I was not a happy camper...so of course he asks..."Is there anything else you need?" Without thinking i said "icecream". His whole face lit up and I could totally tell he was trying not to smile. I was able to tell him I knew where it was so he could go laugh in the back and I left to get Seth his ice cream.
The sad thing is....I really truly could have cried! I was THAT upset over a jar of damn pickles. I don't even think I ate dinner that night because that was all I wanted.
Needless to say I went back to Wegmans and bought a few jars of pickles when I saw them. I just kept looking down at those jars smiling my stupid head off...
I hope you have all enjoyed this story as much as my grandmother did and I hope you pee your pants reading about it!

Cravings
So...everyone always hears about the wacky cravings pregnant women have. I feel the need to start this off by talking about our first Dr. visit. The questionnaire I filled out actually asked me if I craved eating clay or paint chips??!! I found this quite amusing because well...seriously?!
I have had cravings but when I do have them they last a few days. I have decided to do research on this topic and found that many of the things I am craving have to do with what is growing on the baby. Super interesting! This week for example...protein...I have been eating peanut butter and banana sandwiches. Love them by the way... Then last night I smelled burgers, now the smell of grilled meat of any kind since I have been pregnant has just made my stomach turn, but last night I just wanted a burger (granted I only ate half of that burger because I feel nauseous if I eat too much so I try to avoid that at all costs), but it actually smelled good to me then as we were leaving the restaurant I smelled the burgers again and it made my stomach turn. It feels so strange to be so in tune with my body to be able to "listen" to what it needs and yet to feel so awkward in my own skin because I am experiencing something so new.
There have been other cravings too like pickles...(my grandmother would love to insert the pickle story here because she just about wet herself laughing at me on the phone) but I am going to save that one for another time.

Yay Pictures

Ok so I know that I suck at this blog thing but I have been REALLY tired all the time. But whenever we have a sonogram I get all revved up again.
We went in today for Downs Syndrome and Spinabifida(sp?) testing (the first part) and everything looked normal. We were in there for a while because the baby was not cooperating so we figure it is a red headed girl if it was not cooperating. I had a full bladder to begin with and the tech tried inverting me a bit and when that didn't work she had me empty my bladder(Oh happy day!), then we tried again with the inverting. She finally got the shots she needed and she was explaining thigs as she went. She also took some great pics as she went too (those are posted).
So about this little one...
I had thought I felt a little movement but thought I was crazy but now that I see how much this little one is moving around in there I am pretty sure I felt it. We got to see its little hands and feet and watch it kick and jump around(which looked like it had the hiccups). Its heart rate dropped from last time and is now 160bpm and it is 3inches long.
All in all the Dr. says everything looks normal and go figure I have lost 2 lbs!
So now you are up to date and I hope to be a little less tired so I can write a bit more...
